Managing Watched Events

1. To create Asset Watches, select Watched Events > Asset Watches.
2. Right-click the name of an existing watch, and select Add New Watch:

3. This creates a new entry in the table. Give your watch a name and description. To select a file or image to watch, click the page icon in the “Asset” column of the table:

4. This opens the iAPPS Content Manager File Library.
   1. Use the browser to navigate to the correct file and right-click the file entry to select it. For example, if you wanted to select the file SuperbowlProgram.pdf from the directory Superbowl 2011, right click the PDF filename in the table and select Select File.
   2. To include this watch in your Overlay reports, click the “Include in Overlay” check box.
   3. To make the watch active, click the plus in the “Actions” column.

    

To create Tagged Watched Events, ensure you are in Tagged Watches.  (Watched Events > Tagged Watches).

1. Right-click an existing watch, and select Add New Watch:

2. Fill in the Name, Description, and Include in Overlay before selecting the plus in the Actions column to save. 

3. Once you have created the event, click on the Code icon [i] to have a pop up window with a JavaScript tracking code appear. When this tracking code is placed into a web page, iAPPS Analyzer will record when the code is run.
4. Copy the code.
5. Next you will use iAPPS Content Manager to save the code onto a page. 
6. Go to Site Editor and navigate to the page where you wish to place the watch. 
7. Switch from Overlay Mode to Edit Mode.

If the item you are tagging, such as a logo, is not in an editable area (shown with an edit icon), contact your Project Manager and a developer can insert the code on the back end.

8. Click the Edit Icon for the area you want to edit and select Edit Content to open up the Site Editor Toobox.  Click the HTML tab at the bottom left of the content area to view the area in HTML

 

9. Place the code you copied from Analyzer into the HTML area by hitting Control-V to paste in the code. The JavaScript code should appear. <script type='text/javascript'>[watched event code]</script>.  (The text within the brackets will be the individual code copied from Analyzer.)  Your complete tag should look like this.

10. Save your changes.  If the toolbox is not showing you can make it appear by hitting the toggle switch at the top of the content area or switch back into Design View (click on the Pencil Tab in the lower left) and click Save in the toolbox to save your changes. 

                            

11. Ensure that you save the page as a whole as well.  Then you can either republish the page or submit into workflow as necessary. 

1. To create Top Viewed Watches, select the Top Viewed Watches sub-tab, right-click an existing watch or an empty line and select Add New Watch:

2. Create a name and description for your watch. To select a directory for which you want to see the most-viewed file, click the pages icon in the “Directory” column:

3. This opens the iAPPS Content Manager Menus and Pages interface. Use the browser to navigate to the correct directory (page, file or image) and select it. For example, if you wanted to select the subdirectory Superbowl Jerseys from the directory Superbowl 2011, click the subdirectory name in the table on the right and click Select Directory.
4. To make the watch active, click the Plus + icon in the “Actions” column. Once your watch is active, you can see the top five pages from any watched directory by selecting the watch and clicking the [i] icon in the View column.
5. You can also make watches inactive without deleting them.  Highlight the watch, right-click and Select Make Inactive.  You can also check the Hide Inactive box in the upper left corner to hide or see inactive exclusions as you wish. If you wish to reactivate an exclusion, ensure the box is checked, highlight the exclusion, right-click and select Make Active.

 

To see activity related to your Watched Events, select Watched Events > Current Watch Activity.

You can see alerts or set up new alerts.

To set up a new alert:

1. Right-click in the Grid and select Add New Alert.
2. The Grid will become editable.
3. Choose a Watch from the drop-down list.
4. Add a Count for when you want the alert (5, 10, 100, etc.).
5. Choose a Reset option from the drop-down menu. Options include each time the count is reached, but also daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly.
6. Fill in the email address of the person who should get the email alert.
7. Click the Plus icon in the Actions column to Save.

To edit an Alert, select it from the list, right-click and choose Edit Alert. Follow the same directions as above.
