To create new content:

1. Click the Edit (Pencil) icon next to the container you want to edit and select Create New Text.
2. The Text toolbar appear above an empty text box.
   
3. Enter new content using the editor toolbar for editing, just as you would in Site Editor.
4. To save, click either
   Save As - to save new content file in Library
   Save - to save changes to text and close editor.
5. You will be prompted to enter a title and a folder to save the content for use later.
6. 
7. Be sure to save changes to the email by choosing Save as Draft at the top right of the screen.

 

To insert a content item from the Library:

1. Click the Edit (Pencil) icon next to the container you want to edit and select Insert Text from Library.
2. The Insert Content Item From Library dialog appears:

3. Navigate to the content item you want.
4. Highlight the content item and click Select Content.
   iAPPS inserts the selected text into the text container.
5. 1. Be sure to save changes to the email by choosing Save as Draft at the top right of the screen.

To hide or show text in the actual email message without deleting it:

1. Click the Edit Icon on the text and select Hide.
2. The selected text does not appear when you preview this email message or show if you sent it.
3. To see the text again, click the Edit Icon on the text and select Show.

 

To remove content:

1. Select Edit Icon on the text container that has the content to delete, and select Remove Text.
2. The text is deleted from the container.

 

You can apply tags to content

1. Click the Edit (Pencil) icon next to the container you want to edit and select Assign Tags.
2. The Assign Tags container appears with the listing of tags for the website.
3. Check the boxes next to your desired tags. Click the arrows to expand and hide the tag sub-structure.
4. Click Save.

To create a link to an iAPPS page or external URL within the text:

1. Select (highlight) the text that you want to link to another page, file, image, or external URL. Then, click the “Link to Library” icon in the editor toolbar to open the Hyperlink Manager.

2. Choose type of link target (page, file, image, or external URL) that you want to link to.
3. Enter the URL or select a file, page or image from the Directory tree that displays.
4. Select the type of window (current, new, or pop-up) in which you want to display the linked item.
5. Click the “Create Link” button.

The presence of an unsubscribe link in an email message is one key criteria that email program spam blockers use to assess whether incoming email is spam. Additionally the federal CAN-SPAM Act now requires that email marketing campaigns include an unsubscribe link.  Marketier prompts you to add an unsubscribe link to each email that you create.

You can create an unsubscribe link in a email message for contacts to easily unsubscribe from the campaign.

To create an unsubscribe link in the email:

1. Click in the text where you want the unsubscribe link to appear.
2. Click the unsubscribe link icon.
   iAPPS Marketier enters an unsubscribe link in the email.

To include this functionality in the text email however, you must cut and paste the link from the HTML version. 

1. To do this, either click on the HTML Tab at the bottom of the text area or Click the Source button.  This will show you the HTML for your email template.
2. Copy the text between the brackets (include the brackets as well), such as [UnsubscribeLink],
3. Switch back into your Plain Text Email tab and paste in the link.  Make sure you save your changes.
4. When you send your email, a full URL for the link will appear in the email.  (Because the email is plain text, you will be unable to hyperlink any text; rather recipients will see the entire URL.)

When you include a View in Browser link in your email it allows recipients to easily switch for seeing the email within their email program to seeing it within a regular web browser. 

To include a View in Browser Link, ensure that you are in the edit text mode

1. While you are in the HTML View you can simply hit the View in Browser Button in your toolbar, and text and a hyperlink will be placed in the text box you are editing.

To include this functionality in the text email however, you must cut and paste the link from the HTML version. 

1. To do this, either click on the HTML Tab at the bottom of the text area or click the Source button.  This will show you the HTML for your email template.

If desired, Administrators can check the Site Setting: View Email in Browser Link by Default to automatically insert a View in Browser link in every HTML email.  However, it will still need to be transferred to the text version by following the steps above. 

While you can easily link to pages within the iAPPS library in both Content Manager and Marketier, when you do so in Marketier it also marks the page as a “Landing Page.”  Then, when you view the results of your email or response, you can right click to view any landing pages that were linked within the email.

To add a landing page:

1. Highlight the text you wish to link, click the Link to Library Button on the toolbar and follow the dialog to link to a page within your website.

You can insert merge fields within an email if, for example, you wanted to personalize the email message with some part of the recipient’s name.

To create a merge field:

1. Click in the text where you want the merge field to appear.
2. 
3. Click Select Merge Field to open the drop-down list.
4. Scroll through the list to locate a field to use and click on it.
   The merge field text appears in the content area similar to the following: [field:FirstName]
5. Select as many merge fields as you need.
6. When the email is sent, data will be pulled from the database to fill in the merge fields.

You can format often used pieces of content or lists by using code snippets set up by a developer or another user.

To insert a code snippet:

1. Click in the area where you want the snippet and select insert snippet. s. See "Creating Code Snippets"
