Setting up Shipping Containers for Real-time Shipping

iAPPS has the facility to calculate shipping either based on a table or using real-time data.

If you are using real-time shipping, then Shipping Container details also must be set up.

You can reach Shipping Containers via Administration > Shipping Containers or choosing the Shipping Containers link from many other Administration areas.

Here you can add or edit shipping container information, such as box size or weight limits. You can filter the list using keywords.

Adding / Editing Shipping Containers

To add or edit container information:

  1. Right-click and select Add new Shipping Containers or Edit Shipping Containers as appropriate.

  1. In the resulting Shipping Containers screen, fill in the fields for each container as described in the table below.
  2. When you are finished, click Save.
Shipping Container Fields

Field

Purpose

Title

Short name for container

Description

Short description of the container type

Length

Length of container.  This and other measurements will be in the default unit of measure (English) unless changed to metric in the Shipping Section of the Site Settings.

Width

Width of container

Height

Height of container

Max Weight

Maximum weight for container

Max Value

The maximum order value that can be shipped in the container

Packing Preference

A whole number value that prioritizes which container might be used first (for example, an envelope rather than a box).  If no numbers are entered, all containers have the same priority.

Shipper Name

Name of shipper used for the container.  If the container is used by multiple shippers you can leave this blank.

Box Code

Box code used by shipping company.  Shippers often have their own size codes, and may offer a discount for using the code (as it speeds processing).

Status

Only show in the Main Grid: Active or Deactivated

Making Containers Inactive

If boxes run low, they can temporarily be taken out of shipping calculations by right-clicking on the containers row in the main grid and selecting Make Shipping Container Inactive. Be sure to reactivate them later.  Inactive containers will not show by default but can be seen by checking the “Show Inactive Shipping Containers” box in the upper-right.

Deleting Shipping Containers

You can also delete shipping containers entirely, if wished.

  1. Highlight the container you wan to delete.
  2. Right-click and choose Delete Shipping Container.

To enable the real-time shipping features, an installation or site administrator must enable the box Use Real-Time Shipping in the Shipper section of the Developer Configurations. See "Shipper Settings"
