You can import contacts from:

• A .csv file
• Salesforce.com Contacts or Leads

Warning:  Information you import will overwrite existing data in the Marketier database.  You should export and save a copy of your Marketier Database regularly as a back-up, especially if you are about to import large amounts of contact information.

Importing From a CSV File

To import from a .csv file, follow these steps:

1. Click “Download” under “Helpful Hints” to view an import file template.
   Prepare your .csv similarly to the template file.
2. Click the “Upload CSV file” radio button.
3. Click “Browse” beside the “Data Source” field to select the .csv file to import.
4. Optionally, click the “Overwrite existing contact properties based on email address” checkbox to update information for existing contacts in Marketier. You can also check to overwrite existing contact properties for user information (including customer-entered information) for Commerce or Content Manager contacts with information from this .csv file.
5. Click Next.
   The Map Fields wizard appears. Continue below.

Importing From Salesforce.com

You should make sure your Salesforce.com settings are up-to-date (See "Salesforce.com Settings") Then, to import from your Salesforce.com Contacts or Leads, follow these steps:

1. Click the “Salesforce.com Contacts or Leads” radio button.
2. Click Next.
   The Map Fields wizard appears.

On the Map Fields wizard, you map the fields from your import source to the iAPPS Marketier contacts fields.

To map fields, follow these steps:

1. Click the arrow in the fieldname for any of “Your Fields” to map a different fieldname to the “Marketiers Contacts Field” showing in the same row.
2. Click the checkbox in the row for any field “Required for Import”, or click the “Select All” check box in the column heading row to require all fields.
3. Sample Information from your file will appear in the right column.
4. Click “Continue”.
   The Verify Data wizard step appears.

Before your import is complete, iAPPS will help you verify the data you are importing, such as finding contacts with invalid email addresses (bob@bob rather than bob@bob.com, etc. )

You will see a summary of the contacts on your list giving you:

• Total Contacts to be Imported
• Valid Contacts
• Contacts with Errors
• Duplicate Contacts

You can download a separate CSV file of the duplicate or invalid contacts by clicking on the number in that field.

1. Click “Continue”.
   The Define Distributions List wizard appears.

The Define Distribution Lists wizard allows you to add imported contacts directly to a distribution list and to assign Tags to these contacts.

To define distribution lists for imported contacts, follow these steps:

1. Make a distribution list selection as follows:

Distribution List Option	Use This Option To
Create New Distribution List	Create a new distribution list with the imported contacts. Click the “Create New Distribution List” radio   button. Enter a name for the new distribution list. Select the distribution list folder in which to   save this list.
Append to Existing Distribution List	Add the imported contacts to an existing distribution list. Click the “Append to Existing Distribution List” radio button. Select the existing distribution list from a distribution list folder.
Do not Create New Distribution List	To not create a list. Click “Do not Create New Distribution List” radio if you do not want to add the imported contacts to a distribution list at this time.

2. Select any Tags (terms used to aggregate or filter contacts) to assign to the imported contacts from the “Assign Tags to Import Contacts” pick list.

3. Click “Import”.
   When the import is complete you will see an Elapsed Time popup that all gives you statistics on how many contacts were imported successfully.

4. Click Close.
