Best Bets - Promote or Assign Specific Terms to a Page

Best Bets are a custom list of preferred results for common queries, creating a relationship between a particular search and a document.

This enables you to control the documents you want at the top of the search results for a given term, and are an easy way to raise the awareness and visibility of key documents. Best bets display above the normal search results.

From v5.1, those using the new iAPPS Search 10 (Enterprise Search) can adjust Best Bets in the Admin UI.

To reach Best Bets, go to Administration > Search Configuration.

A list of current Best Bets appears. You can sort this list by Title, File Name or Description.

To Add or Edit a Best Bet:

1. Click Add New.

To Edit:

1. Highlight a row in the table and click Edit.

2. Type in or Edit the Query that you want to add the Best Bet for.
3. Choose or edit the Title.
4. In the URL column, choose the link type (Page or File) using the drop-down.
5. Choose the URL. You can type or paste in the URL or click the Libraries icon to open a dialog screen for your iAPPS libraries.
6. Navigate through the Menus and Pages or File Library interface on the left to find the page or file you want.
7. Highlight the page or file name in the right pane and choose Select Page or Select File.
8. Add an optional description of the page or file.
9. To add additional URLs to the same Best Bet Query, click Add URL. The screen will display additional rows, where you can add more URLs. If you later want to delete one of these URLs, click Delete under the action column at the end of that row.
10. Click Save to return to the main Best Bets listing screen.

To Delete:

Highlight the row you wish to delete and click Delete in the table header.
