User Roles and Permissions

Built-in iAPPS Commerce administrative roles provide pre-defined rights and privileges for standard eCommerce needs. Other roles can be customized for your individual requirements.

A smaller eCommerce store may have only a few users; in large stores you may have dozens or hundreds.

The roles for a typical eCommerce setup include:

The table below shows Commerce user roles and the associated privileges. An x indicates Create, Delete, and Modify privileges.

Note that users of other iAPPS modules can receive Commerce "Everyone" permission, which allows them to view and use Commerce-related content but not to edit it or see administrative functions.

User Role Descriptions

As the table above shows, each Commerce user role has particular privileges that allow specific administrative duties. This section describes the most common user roles and the associated actions.

Commerce Site Administrator

The Commerce Site Administrator has access to all setup and administration functions.

As a Site Administrator you can:

Within iAPPS Commerce you can manage customer information, customer access and accounts, cached information, catalog details, products, and promotions.

Merchandising Manager

The Merchandising Manager has the ability to manage the sale of products and categories for the front end.

As a Merchandising Manager you can:

You have access to reports related to sales, discounts, promotions, pricing, product positioning, cross-sale and up-sale as well as customer demographic reports. They do not have access to order and customer functions however,

Customer Service Representative

A Customer Service Representative (CSR) has full access to customer data. In this role a CSR can

Other tasks a CSR can perform include issuing coupons on a customer-by-customer basis, as well as interacting with customers in real-time during the checkout process.

All interactions performed by a CSR are tracked by Commerce through the Customer Notes tab. CSRs can make notes that become a permanent part of the customer record. Customer notes cannot be edited or deleted once created.

Customer Service Manager

A Customer Service Manager has full access to the same customer data that CSRs have.  In addition, they can perform all the functions that CSRs do, such as seeing and editing

Marketing Manager

Along with the Merchandising Manager the Marketing Manager orchestrates the positioning and promotions associated with products in the Catalog. In this role the Marketing Manager can:

Fulfillment Manager

The Fulfillment Manager handles the final processing of the order and verification of payments before products are ready to ship. They identify the package sizes and shipper; as well as processing and shipping the order.

Warehouse Manager

Warehouse Managers handle warehouse and inventory functions, including:

Analyst

An Analyst can view reports and product reviews.

CommerceAdmin EveryOne

This is permission for other users in the iAPPS suite.  This will allow them to view and place Commerce-related pages within Site Editor while they are using other modules such as Content Manager or Marketier, such as linking to a Commerce Product Page, but not to edit any Commerce-related information.

Installation Administrator

Most installations will not have many Installation Admins. The Installation Administrator has high-level permissions and can
