Yes. Contacts who complete a form or sign up for a newsletter can be automatically transferred into the iAPPS Contacts Database. To do this, make sure that any forms you create in Content Manager are set up to automatically upload form contacts. To do this, choose Content Manager > Manage Site Assets > Forms. You will need to select the "Add Submitter as Contact” option in the Form Properties while adding or Editing a Form. From then on,users who fill out the form will automatically appear in Marketier. In addition, if you have login functionality on your site, any users with log-in information from Content Manager or Commerce will also be available to you.
Once form information is loaded, you can then search for contacts from within Marketier as normal.
Contacts from products within the iAPPS suite are automatically be available to you, but contacts from other sources, such as Sales Force or any other database can be easily uploaded using a comma separated value (CSV) file. See "Importing Contacts" for more step-by-step instructions on how to upload the file.
When importing contacts you always have the choice of creating a new distribution list from the contacts, adding the contacts to an existing distribution list or importing them without adding them to any distribution lists. See "Importing Contacts" for more information.
Yes. However they will not appear in searches unless you check Include iAPPS Admin Users in the Contact Source filter.
You can also set up an internal distribution list in your company email system and enter that address as a contact, such as such as content_admins@company.com or HR@mycompany.com. Then you can then easily add or delete any internal users or departments from the alias without worrying about maintaining multiple lists.
New data associated with an existing email address will overwrite existing data in the database when you import new contacts if you have the “Overwrite existing contact properties” box checked in the Select Data Source step of the Import Contacts Wizard.
IMPORTANT! Once you have overwritten data you CANNOT ROLLBACK to the previous state of the database. Make sure you really want to overwrite data and always make a backup of your Marketier database by exporting it to a CSV or Excel file before you import any new contacts.
As long as the email address of a contact is the same, their unsubscribe preferences remain, even if all their other information is overwritten. If they change their email address, however, they will have to unsubscribe again.
There is no official limit to contact numbers enforced within iAPPS, and the system has been tested with more than 1 million contacts with 4 profile properties each. However, there are some practical performance limits to importing and maintaining large numbers of contacts. If you store information for more than four million points of reference (the number of contacts multiplied by the number of properties, so 500,000 contacts with 8 properties each or 1 million with 4 properties, etc.), you may start to see some performance slowdowns. If you have more contacts than this, talk to your Bridgeline representative about enterprise options for your database.
