Adding / Editing a Poll and Poll Properties

A Content Manager Poll is a simpler version of a Form and follows a similar process and logic. You can create a single question poll similar to the following poll edit view:

For each poll you specify basic behavior properties and design a layout. then you can add the finished poll to an iAPPS webpage for display on the site's front end.

Adding or Editing a Poll requires the following major steps:

• Adding/Naming the poll
• Specifying properties
• Designing layout
• Saving poll
• Adding Poll to Page
• Viewing Poll Results

To add a poll and specify initial properties:

1. Ensure you are in the Forms Library (Manage Site Assets > Engagement Tools > Forms).
2. Click on the Add Poll button to bring up the Add New Poll dialog box. Here you will specify properties for the poll. These are the same Form Properties you can see when you choose Edit Properties for a poll or a form from the main Forms Library screen.

To edit an existing poll:

1. Ensure you are in the Forms Library (Manage Site Assets > Engagement Tools > Forms).
2. Highlight the poll you wish to edit in the Form's library listing and select Edit Properties.
3. Fill in the Poll Properties and behaviors.Some are the same as Form properties and some are different.

Poll Properties

You can specify a number of poll behaviors and properties including:

• Title & Description

  1. Enter a title for this form in the Title field.
  2. You can add an optional description for the form, if wished.
• XSLT file

  (XSLT tells browsers how to format the form or poll. Your developer may have created a XSLT file specific to this form).

  To add an XSLT file for this form, click .

  1. An Upload File dialog appears.
  2. Click Browse.
  3. Locate and select an XSLT file.
  4. Click Open.
  5. The name of the selected file appears in the Upload File dialog.
  6. Click Upload File.
  7. The name of the selected file appears in the XSLT File Name field.

• Thank You URL

  You can specify a URL or iAPPS page to direct the user to after completing a form or poll.

  1. To add a Thank You page from the iAPPS library, simply click on the Library icon link to the right of the field. This will bring up the menus and Pages dialog.
  2. Navigate to the Page you wish to have as a Thank You page and click Select.
  3. Alternatively to use an external URL you can simply type or paste in the URL.

  If you would like to specify a Thank You landing page from your site, you will need to have created the page first. If you haven't done so yet, simply skip this step for now. When you've created the page you can return to the Forms Library and edit the properties for the poll.

• Submit Button Text -Specify text to display on button that users click to submit form.

  Simply type in the text you would like to have on the button, such as "Submit" or "Vote" . Remember it will need to be fairly short.

• Display Results As:

  If you are displaying results to the user, you can choose a pie chart, bar chart or simple text.

• Voting type:

  You can limit whether users can fill out a poll as many times as they wish or limit submissions to one per site visit or one per IP address.

• Add Watch

  If you wish to have the poll trigger a Watched Event as part of the submission process, then you can choose it here.

4. Once you have specified properties for a poll, save the properties. Then you can design or edit its Layout and Fields.

• If you were editing an existing poll, click the Save button at the bottom of the Form Definition dialog to return to the Forms Library Listing.
• If you were creating a new poll you have the option clicking Save to return to the Forms Library Listing and edit your layout and fields later, or click Save and Edit Form to design the poll layout and fields now.

You can preview how a poll will look to a user from the library list by highlighting its row and choosing Preview from the More drop-down list.
