User roles and their corresponding permissions determine what content management, site management, or user management tasks you can perform in iAPPS Content Manager. The table below provides an overview of the different user roles and the tasks each role has permissions to perform.
Content and Site Administrators can change these permissions. See "Managing CMS Users" for more detail.
Basic iAPPS Content Manager User Roles

Author |
Authors have permissions to create and edit pages, connect them to the site menu, and submit them into workflow. Authors can assign index terms to pages and delete pages. They can also create and delete lists. There are two types of Authors:

Approver |
Approvers can do everything Authors can do. In addition, Approvers can review another Author’s pages and approve or reject them. They will see workflows that involve them. There are two types of Approvers:

Publisher |
Publishers can do everything Authors and Approvers can do. In addition, they can publish pages live on the site.There are two types of Publishers:

Content Administrator | Content Administrators can do everything Authors, Approvers, and Publishers can do. In addition, Content Administrators can create and edit menu items, and manage libraries of files, images, and templates. They can also create and assign workflows, lists, blogs, comments and manage website users and security levels. |
Navigational Editor |
Navigational Editors have permissions to add sub-menu items, rename menu items, and connect pages to menu items. Users cannot be assigned solely Navigational Editor status and permissions Refer to Table 2 for a complete list of permissions for Navigational Editors. Note: If a menu-based editor is assigned to a group with more permissions, then they will gain all the permissions of the group. |
Manager |
This is a Data Library role. Managers have permissions to manage libraries of content items, files, and images. |
Viewer | This is a Data Library role. Viewers can only view content items, files, and images. |
Archiver | Archivers can archive published pages. |
Site Administrator |
Site Administrators have permissions to edit, backup, and delete a site or a variant site. They can also manage, create and delete CMS groups, CMS users, website users and 301 URL redirects. Site Administrators also can create and manage variant (micro) sites. |
Installation Administrator |
Installation Administrators have permission to create new sites or variant sites in iAPPS Content Manager. They can edit, backup, and delete sites and manage 301 URL redirects. They can also add, edit, and delete CMS users. |
Blog Administrator | Blog Administrators are in charge of all aspects of a blog, including creating a new blog, creating and editing posts and managing users comments on blogs. |
Translation Administrator | A Translation Administrator has permissions to manage the translation features in iAPPS. |
Previewer | A Previewer has permission to view and click through the site, but not to edit anything. Other iAPPS users can send links to preview pages from Site Editor. |
Template Admin | A Template Administrator is able to use the Template Builder feature to modify some iAPPS templates. The edited or new templates can then be used by authors. |

Note: Content Administrators have permissions for all Menus, Pages and Data Libraries by default. They can also edit users and groups. Hence they will not display in permissions lists because they already have permissions by default.
