Adding and Managing Blogs and Settings

To add a new blog:

1. If you do not already have a menu item set up for your blog, you should do that first. See "Managing Menus" for more information on adding a menu item.
2. In the Blogs Library (Manage Site Assets > Engagement Tools > Blogs), highlight the Blog root directory and select Add Blog.
   A new sub-directory node appears under Blogs.
   1. Enter a name for the Blog and press Enter on your keyboard to save. The new Blog name appears in the Blogs Library directory tree.
3. After creating a blog, you can specify settings for it.

To specify Blog settings:

1. Highlight the Blog you wish to edit.

2. Click Edit Settings.
3. Specify Blog Display and Comment settings as outlined in the following table:

 

Blog Settings

Setting	Description/Directions
Title	Blog Title
Connect to Menu	Click the arrow next to Connect to Menu. A menu tree appears. Navigate to the menu item you want and click to select it.
Blog List Template	Click the arrow in the drop-down list to navigate through the template listings to choose a template for the main blog listing. Navigate to the template you want and click to select it. (Choose Template 6 - Blog Listing)
Post Detail Template	Click the arrow in the drop-down list to navigate through the template listing to choose a template for individual blog postings. Navigate to the template you want and click to select it. (Choose Template 7 - Blog Post)
Content Definition	If you want to be able to add additional field types to the Blog Description tab, Click the arrow in the drop-down list to navigate through a list of Content Definition options. (Choose Blog Post) Note that you cannot edit which Definition is used for an existing Blog once posts have been published.. If you want to change what appears, an administrator or developer will need to upload an edited content definition into the Content Definition Library, as well as update the blog template to reflect the Content Definition.
Display Settings	Check Show Post Date to display the date on which each post was entered. Check Display Author Name to display the name of the author on a post.
Comment Settings	Comment Settings control how Content Manger handles comments entered on a Blog page. Check the boxes next to the options you want. Unauthenticated users must fill out name, email and security fields (CAPTCHA Service). (This helps prevent Spam comments). Email Blog owner whenever anyone posts a comment. An administrator must always approve new comments before they appear on the site.

 

4. When you finish specifying settings for this blog, click Save. Your blog will now be ready to use, and you can move on to See "Adding and Editing Blog Posts ".

 

You can change the blog name if necesssary:

1. Clicking Edit Blog (pencil sign) in the left pane.
2. Type the new name when the field becomes editable and click the Enter/Return button on your keyboard to save.

 

To delete a blog:

1. Highlight the blog name in the blogs directory tree and select Delete Blog.
2. Content Manager deletes the blog and all posts associated with it. The blog sub-directory no longer appears in the Blog library directory tree.

Remember: Deleting a blog deletes all associated posts! Rather than deleting the blog you can make posts inactive and they will no longer display on the front end of the site.

 

You can jump from the Blogs library to the Site Editor to view how a blog appears in the Site.

To jump to blog in Site Editor:

1. Highlight a blog name in the blog library directory tree and select Jump to Blog in Site Editor.
2. Site Editor opens, displaying the selected blog:
3. To return to Blogs library, select iAPPS > Content Manager Last Admin page.
