Site Editor enables you to quickly and easily manage a site in the front-end view. You can edit site pages and their content from Site Editor, inserting text, images, videos as needed, as well as viewing the site as a website user would see it, and even preview pages as they will appear on various devices.
You can do the majority of upkeep on your website through the Site Editor’s interface while seeing your site content changes in real time. Typically, you can also accomplish many of the same tasks through the Libraries interface and the Menus & Pages Library. See "Managing Menus"
Remember that your tasks and access may change depending on your permissions. Site administrators can assign permission to change material to authors for the entire site or only to certain sections or pages.
You can access the Site Editor in several ways. If you are in the Control Center, you can click the Jump to Site Editor button on your dashboard. You can also click Site Editor on the main navigation menu in the Control Center and select either Jump to Home (to go to the site’s homepage) or Jump to Last Visited Page (to go to last page opened in Site Editor). If you are in Menus & Pages, you can highlight a page in the grid list view and click View in Editor.
Site Editor opens with its main toolbar open by default.
Click the up-arrow at the bottom-middle of the toolbar to temporarily hide the Site Editor toolbar.
Depending on your role, you can perform some or all of the following tasks for pages with the Site Editor toolbar:
The toolbar also shows the status of the page (Draft, Published).
Other topics in this chapter will show you how to accomplish the tasks above. Most of your content work will be done in Site Editor, where you will edit content in special content containers. First we learn some more about publishing, saving pages, and other page actions.
